Ocean Design Lab

Hands-on corporate workshop

Ocean Design Lab is an innovative and hands-on program designed to inspire curiosity and passion for ocean conservation. This program will educate participants about the environmental damage caused by bottom trawling. Participants will redesign bottom trawling nets to minimize environmental impact by building and testing prototypes in a friendly competition.

Participants will use provided materials and a pretend budget to build improved nets while engaging in problem-solving and teamwork. Ocean Design Lab helps them understand how different fields work together to address environmental challenges for a sustainable future.

This two-hour design lab begins with an informative presentation highlighting the environmental consequences of bottom trawling. Following the presentation, participants will collaborate in teams to redesign bottom trawling nets to minimize their environmental impact. The teams will then build and test prototypes in a friendly competition.

We recommend no more than 30 participants per workshop so all can engage in discussions.
