Rattle Making Workshop: Deer Rattles and the Algonquin Women’s Water Song

  • Burnaby North Secondary School 751 Hammarskjold Drive Burnaby, BC, V5B 3Z9 Canada (map)

Join Sea Smart and Knowledge Carrier Lorelei Lyons for a Rattle Making Workshop! Lorelei will guide us in making our own deer rattles, which signify independence and celebrate the 3 kingdoms of animals, minerals and plants. Participants will learn about songs that are traditionally sung with rattles, and together we will learn the Algonquin Women’s Water song. This song reminds us of the importance of water and the need for us to protect it.
