Apply for the K.E.L.P. Education Fund
At Sea Smart, we deeply value the diversity of our community, and are dedicated to ensuring that our programs are accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. To do this, we have developed a scholarship program, open to anyone who needs it.
To do this, we have developed our Keeping Environmental Learning Possible (K.E.L.P.) Education Fund, offering funding for our summer camps and school workshops.
We've introduced a sliding scale to accommodate a range of needs, including those who may require 100% coverage. We understand and respect that choice, while also encouraging everyone to reflect on the broader impact it can have.
After filling out your form, we will be in touch with you regarding your application. Once approved, we will provide instructions for purchase and registration.

Summer Camps
Sea Smart’s week-long summer camps in Vancouver encourage children to explore nature in a safe and fun outdoor environment. From developing scientific skills and identifying cool critters, to conducting research projects - our engaging and friendly Ocean Educators will help them learn about different marine ecosystems and the impact human activity has on them. They’ll walk away with new friends and knowledge, and will be able to help advocate for and protect our ocean so that the next generation can enjoy them, too!
-
Clean Water Champions
In partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), we are excited to deliver a hands-on program about freshwater pollution and how it connects to our ocean.
Sea Smart’s highly trained staff of marine biologists and environmental educators will visit your classroom to deliver a series of three inquiry-based workshops (see ‘Outline of Workshops’ below). Your students will work in groups to create stewardship projects (i.e. projects to raise awareness and care for our environment) to engage their schools and communities in diverting pollution from freshwater systems and our oceans.

Freshwater Shoreline Cleanups
Withdrawal at least 1 month or more Sea Smart’s shoreline clean-ups are a fun and engaging way for students to learn about plastic pollution, marine animals, and how to protect our ocean.
Our sessions are designed and facilitated by Sea Smart’s highly experienced team of marine biologists and environmental educators to deliver informative and engaging events. Sea Smart will provide all the equipment and protocols needed to ensure a safe cleanup for groups of 10-100 participants.
Why the Sliding Scale?
Our sliding scale is designed to uphold principles of inclusivity and sustainability. Here's why it's an essential part of what we do:
Fostering Inclusivity
The sliding scale guarantees fair access to financial assistance for all applicants. We want to celebrate and embrace the diverse range of individuals who seek to be part of our programs, regardless of their financial resources.
Sustaining Our Vision
Providing full subsidies to all applicants could strain our ability to continue offering bursaries. When applicants contribute a portion of the program cost, they help ensure the sustainability of our mission, making it possible for future participants to benefit as well.
Expanding Opportunities
Our mission is to create a learning community that welcomes people from all walks of life. The sliding scale opens doors for a wider array of participants, contributing to a more vibrant and enriched learning experience.
Empowering Choices
Your thoughtful decision can be a beacon of support for those who genuinely need 100% coverage. It demonstrates that we're all here to uplift each other, no matter our circumstances.
A choice with consideration
While we encourage you to contemplate the broader implications of your choice, we want to emphasize that seeking 100% coverage is a valid and respected option. We understand that some individuals genuinely require this level of support, and we are here to honor your needs and choices.
