Name: Loki
Role title: Chief Entertainment Officer

What do you do at/for Sea Smart: I work hard to make sure the Sea Smart team is feeling joyful. I help them relax and even let them throw a ball for me. I’m also always ready to break up the workday by reminding the team to go outside and take a walk. Sometimes it can be hard to leave the office when there’s so much work to do but, I believe that everyone has time to take a minute to get some fresh air.

One study found that walking in the park and relaxing during lunch breaks is beneficial. It can promote recovery from job stress, lower feelings of tension, and improve employee well-being (1). You might think that being such a cute puppy would be a distraction for the team. That said, I remind the team to take breaks, which rejuvenates employees so they can return to work with more gusto, improving productivity (2)!

What’s your favourite part about working at Sea Smart: One of my favourite parts about working at Sea Smart is making the team laugh. Laughter and positivity are as contagious as negativity and stress (3), so I do my part to ensure that the team can always take a break to see my newest tricks. As well, studies prove that pets in the workplace provide calming effects, reduce blood pressure, lower stress, and make employees more productive (3). When I’m at the office, the team feels less stressed and can continue to make an impact in the world. In return I get pats and attention, it’s a win-win!

What are your hobbies: Napping, Going on walks, Eating snacks, Napping, Saying hi to all my friends at Sea Smart

Favourite ocean-friendly tip: I go through a lot of snacks. So I try to keep my snacks in a reusable silicone ziplock bag. My snack bags are airtight, easy to open and close, and are perfect for dry snacks. They’re more durable and ocean-friendly compared to single-use sandwich bags!
