Marine Biologists in Training - Kitsilano Beach
Location: Kitsilano Beach
Age: 8 - 10
Calling all future marine biologists! This girls* only summer day-camp is centered around empowering girl* identifying youth with the confidence to tackle our ocean's greatest threats! At Marine Biologist in Training camp, students will learn hands-on scientific sampling methods, participate in interactive marine biology lessons and conduct research projects where they will collect their own data on the cool critters living near our shorelines!
Campers will have the opportunity to learn from a real-life woman-identifying or nonbinary marine scientist, and hear exciting stories from the field. Your child will leave camp with the confidence and certainty that they can harness their STEM knowledge to tackle the largest challenges to ocean conservation.
Some exciting activities include:
🌿 Surveys on crabs, kelp and barnacles
🦞 Exploring marine invertebrates in our oceans using magnifying glasses
🦴 Hands-on learning with bones and fossils from marine creatures, collected by a real-life marine biologist
This summer camp will encourage your camper to delve deeper into the world of marine biology, with the certainty that there is space for girls* in STEM!
*These inclusive camps are open to youth identifying as girls, trans, genderqueer, gender non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender questioning. We are working to close the gender gap in science-related fields!
Please Note:
Lunch is not included; please ensure your kids come with enough food, water and clothing suited to be outdoors all day.
There is NO swimming during this camp.
