Sea Smart’s outdoor summer camps are the perfect way for your child to spend their week this summer, exploring the wonders of the Pacific Northwest and the Salish Sea! Located at Kitsilano Beach and Trout Lake, our Sea Smart summer camps offer a unique opportunity for children ages 6 - 10 to dive into ocean education while having a blast outdoors.

Our summer camps for children feature exciting, hands-on activities that teach your child about marine life, conservation, and environmental stewardship. They’ll develop valuable scientific skills, discover fascinating creatures, and explore the environmental challenges our ocean and freshwater bodies face today. Plus, they’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to become advocates for the environment!

With a focus on fun and interactive learning, Sea Smart’s week-long summer camps offer your child the chance to make new friends while learning about marine ecosystems, developing problem-solving skills, and discovering the importance of protecting our oceans. These camps provide a safe, welcoming space for children to enjoy nature.

  • Embark on a Week of Ocean Exploration! Join us at Ocean Defenders camp, where we invite curious minds like yours to discover the wonders of the ocean!

  • Dive into the World of Marine Biology! Join us for a fantastic week-long adventure at the beach, specifically designed for *girls and nonbinary youth who are curious about marine biology!

  • Dive into adventure with Ocean Heroes, an inspiring outdoor summer camp! We invite young explorers to immerse themselves in the wonders of ocean science through engaging, hands-on activities.

  • Calling all future marine biologists! At Sea Smart, we empower girl* identifying children to become STEM experts. This girls* only day-camp will inspire your child to dive deeper into the exciting world of marine biology. Your Marine Biologists in Training will participate in exciting, ocean-themes games, and harness their own learning by conducting group research projects where they will collect their own data from the local environment at camp. Your child will have the opportunity to learn from a real-life woman-identifying or nonbinary marine scientist, and hear exciting stories from the field.

  • Dive into adventure with Ocean Heroes, an inspiring outdoor summer camp! We invite young explorers to immerse themselves in the wonders of ocean science through engaging, hands-on activities.

  • Calling all future Wildlife Biologists! At this week-long day-camp, your child will be immersed in the fascinating world of wildlife biology. Through exciting and energetic games and land-based learning, your campers will develop their knowledge of the wildlife that call the Salish Sea home! This camp will inspire your child to become a true Wildlife Biologist in Training.

  • 4-Day Camps - $300

    5-Day Camps - $375

*Age of your child by Dec 31, 2025 (ie: if your child is 5 now, but they turn 6 by the end of the year, they can join our age 6-7 camps)

**These inclusive camps are open to youth identifying as girls, trans, genderqueer, gender non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender questioning. We are working to close the gender gap in science-related fields!

    Location: Kitsilano Beach or Trout Lake

    Time: 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday (due to statutory holidays there are no camps on Monday, August 4, 2025) 

    Cost: $375 for 5-day camps; $300 for 4-day camps (K.E.L.P. Education Fund)

    Lunch and snacks are NOT included

  • Extreme Weather Policy

    Sea Smart will keep families informed about potential changes due to extreme weather. These may include activities in the shade, low-activity days, water games, moving to an indoor location, half-days, or camp cancellations.

  • Cancellation Policy

    Withdrawals 31 days or more prior to camp start date = Full refund

    Withdrawals made 10 - 30 days prior to camp start date = Full refund minus a $25 administration fee per camp

    Withdrawals made 9 days or less prior to camp start date = No refund or credit (i.e., 100% forfeiture of camp fee)

    Please note that there is a $25 admin fee for camp date switches.

Scholarship Program

We're so glad you're here! At Sea Smart, we aim to inspire a love for the ocean in every child - no matter what their financial resources are. Our scholarship program supports families by covering part or all of the cost of a one-week summer camp.

Summer camp scholarships will open again in February 2025.
